The appointment lasts for approximately 30 minutes. We would ask you to arrive in good time for your appointment in order to help the clinics run smoothly and to time.
The consultation involves taking a full history of the accident, your injuries, further treatment and other details including a past medical history.A physical examination will also be necessary.
You will be sent a questionnaire with your appointment letter. Please take time to fill this out and bring it with you to the appointment. It is used to help complete your report and asks about details of the accident and any subsequent treatment including dates of hospital, GP or physiotherapy appointments. Please use the form to 'jog your memory' prior to your consultation as it may have been some time since the accident occured and some details may be difficult to recall. |

Your report may require that copies of your medical records be reviewed. These are usually supplied by your solicitor and are treated with utmost confidentiality.
With regard to the content of the report, only those issues directly related to any injury sustained at the time of the accident are commented upon.The rest of your medical history remains confidential. Once the case has completed, the copies of any records are either returned to your solicitor (if requested) or destroyed.
The consultation is aimed at being as pleasant as possible as legal matters can sometimes be somewhat daunting. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. If, however, you feel uncomfortable with the situation or have any questions to ask, please feel free to do so.
Once the report has been completed, it is sent to the instructing solicitor, who will then contact you in due course with regards to the continuation of your claim. |
